I MOVED

The title of this blog was going to be “I’m Moving” but now that a month has passed and I still haven’t written this blog it’s time it is named “I Moved”. I have been in the works of moving for a while and as a result have been MIA on the blog. I have loved living in Nebraska for my whole life, but now that I am an adult and have seen so many different amazing places I felt like it was time to try something new.

I have accepted a job as a Marketing Coordinator in Chicago! I am excited to get started and put my creative mind to work in my new surroundings. Leaving my home and the first apartment was definitely bittersweet. A month later, I still miss it.  I will be going back soon and look forward to seeing my friends and family.

I have learned a few things during this journey (besides how to pack a moving truck):

  • Be Patient – When you are moving to a new place be patient with those around you and with yourself. It’s going to take some time to get adjusted. AND don’t expect your new job, your new apartment/house, new friends to fall into place right away.
  • Social Media can be your BEST FRIEND – I don’t mean spend all of your time on social media and avoid the world. No, I mean that you can find new places to hangout other than in your bed, watching Netflix. You can find new trendy places that you might be able to meet your new best friend.
  • Get Out of Your Comfort Zone – Don’t be afraid to say “yes” more often. We all have those days where we want to be lazy and do absolutely nothing. But when you move to a new city, this isn’t an option. You are on a mission, to make friends and live it up in this new city. Saying no, or turning down offers to spend time with others is the worst thing you can do to get your new life going.

I am sure Chicago has many life lessons to teach me, until then I am still trying to follow my own advice and live it up in this new city I now call home. Let me know in the comments if you recently moved and what advice you have!
