PLANNING 2019 WITH GOLDEN COIL

PLANNING 2019 WITH GOLDEN COIL

I like having a physical planner, just like I like reading a physical book instead of an ebook. There is something about having a copy I can write on, add stickers to (yes I’m a child at heart), and physically have in front of me. Several people have asked why I don’t just use an app so that I wouldn’t have to carry a book around with me. I have used the excuse, “if I lose my phone then it’s gone”, but that’s not really true, the cloud backs up all of my data. I don’t have a great reason behind liking a physical copy of my schedule, maybe it has something to do with the escape of screens. All day, everyday, I am looking at a screen. At work, I have my phone and computer that I am constantly checking. Then at home, I am looking at my phone and at the TV.

I have always had a physical planner and don’t intend to switch to an app anytime soon. I like being able to use it as a daily planner, recipe collector, address book, budgeting tool, and so much more. I use a million sticky notes and gel pens to color coordinate and give myself reminders, and I LOVE it!

GARLIC & HERB-ROASTED CARBONARA

GARLIC & HERB-ROASTED CARBONARA

Now that the holiday season has come to an end, it’s time to settle in because the cold is here to stay for a few months. This recipe has the warm comfort food feeling with all of the flavor you are looking for in the winter. Pasta, especially homemade pasta, is my favorite comfort food. I made this recipe one night for dinner and absolutely loved it. I posted pictures on my Instagram story and got several requests for this recipe.  Continue reading “GARLIC & HERB-ROASTED CARBONARA”

THIS SEASON’S MUST HAVE COATS

THIS SEASON’S MUST HAVE COATS

Since I live in Chicago, I feel like I have been wearing heavy sweaters and coats for MONTHS. I can’t get enough of the cute coat trends that are in this season. Leopard has been so popular since this last summer and I’m thrilled that it has continued into winter. Neutrals, textures, and plaid are all in, and yes, I am counting leopard as a neutral. Even though I know I can only wear one at a time, I can’t help but love all of these coats.

2018 REFLECTION

MERRY CHRISTMAS

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Each year this season holds a special place in my heart. I love celebrating the togetherness and traditions that follow. I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas, and I truly hope each and every one of you has a great holiday. Great things are coming this year, and I can’t wait to share it all with you. I hope this next year brings you amazing opportunities!

“My idea of Christmas, whether old-fashioned or modern, is very simple: loving others.” ―Bob Hope

Just a little reminder I have to tell my self, and I am now sharing with you… in the craziness of the shopping, the decorating, and the gift giving make sure you take the time to slow down and relax! I feel like everyone, including myself, gets caught up in the gifts and the decorations (which is a great part of the holidays, don’t get me wrong). Don’t let the most important part of the holidays pass you by, look around at your loved ones and value each person sitting around you. Perfect Christmas’ aren’t always possible, you might burn the food or get stuck traveling to your family Christmas and arrive late, and that’s okay! All of the Instagram photos and the staged Christmas photos aren’t always the reality behind the camera. Don’t get too bogged down with trying to have the perfect Christmas or comparing your Christmas to what you see on social media, because the perfect Christmas is what you make it. However, you choose to celebrate the holiday this year, it’s perfect! To wrap this up, I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

MY FAVORITE CHRISTMAS COOKIE

MY FAVORITE CHRISTMAS COOKIE

I am finally back to reality, I visited my family over the weekend to celebrate Christmas early. We made tons of cookies, fruit cake, fudge, and so much more. I love baking in the kitchen, put some Christmas music on, fill a glass of wine, and make cookies with some of my favorite people… I don’t know what could be better. Each year, I love decorating sugar cookies and sneaking the occasional piece of fudge but there is one cookie above all that is my favorite…  Continue reading “MY FAVORITE CHRISTMAS COOKIE”
